Crisp plugin
WhatsApp Auto Re-engage
WhatsApp only lets a business send free-form messages within 24 hours of the customer's last message. Reply later and Meta silently rejects it. This plugin notices the rejection and re-sends your approved template so the conversation re-opens, without anyone having to remember.
Install the plugin
Add WhatsApp Auto Re-engage to your Crisp workspace from the Marketplace, then open its settings.
Paste your WhatsApp API token
Generate a token in Crisp > Plugins > WhatsApp > API Settings and paste it into the plugin settings. Set the callback URL shown there.
Pick a template
Choose the Meta-approved template that should re-open the conversation and map its {{1}} placeholders (first name, phone, static text).
Enable auto-send
From then on, any operator or bot reply rejected because the 24h window closed triggers the template automatically, once per conversation per cooldown.
How it decides to send
- Only WhatsApp messages rejected by Crisp (the
message:acknowledge:ignoredevent). - Only outbound operator or bot messages, never a visitor's.
- Only when the visitor's last message is older than the window (24h by default).
- Never twice on the same conversation inside the cooldown, even if several replies failed at once.
- Optionally, only when the visitor has written at least once (so unknown numbers are not messaged).
